Welcome to Guest Suite 2, located in the west wing of the third level. This room likely housed Alfred and Eleanor’s employees who worked for them in the home. Today, this once singular space has been transformed into a plush bedroom with a luxurious en suite bathroom. Designed by Laura Engen, Allied ASID, of Laura Engen Interior Design, this suite is reminiscent of a luxury hotel stay. EdgeWork Design Build expertly split the room while working within the slanted ceiling lines on all sides, creating a perfect blend of comfort and elegance.
Design began with a focus on creating a warm and inviting space for guests. To achieve this, the designer incorporated wood paneling that matches the intricate detail found throughout the home. Adding a contemporary twist, she chose a dark gray paint color called Forged Steel from Sherwin Williams for the trim, which repeats throughout the house to create a moody vibe that reflects the homeowners' modern style. To enhance the dramatic effect, this dark gray tone was added to all trim and windows, contrasting beautifully with the white textured wallpaper from Thibaut used on the walls and sloped ceilings.
The room's ambiance is further heightened by a dark-painted ceiling that complements the trim and wainscoting. Glass light fixtures with brass accents from Arhaus were selected to add decadence and warmth, creating a luxurious feel. The furniture in the suite is chosen to complement the architectural features and enhance the rich aesthetic of the space. A unique feature of this room is the coffee bar located in the entry vestibule, complete with a beverage fridge, providing guests with added comfort and convenience during their stay.
As you make your way to the fully reworked en suite bathroom, you’ll notice that it’s designed for ultimate convenience and comfort. It features dedicated spaces for a free-standing tub, a shower enclave, and a water closet. In the center of the room, period seating is positioned elegantly before the vanity, surrounded by luxurious marble wall panels and large-format tile wainscoting. Every detail in this space reflects meticulous attention from the 22 System By Bocci outlets incorporated into the vanity side panel to the new doors and cased openings finished to seamlessly match the existing woodwork. The seven-part head casings and built-up side casings highlight the craftsmanship that enhances the bathroom's timeless elegance.
